How to clean radiator bodies
Many times we forget to clean the bodies of the radiator for a long time, believing that it is not necessary. The truth is that visually your radiator may look clean, but if you look a little more closely you will find that its interior hides a lot of dust. This dust can affect its performance.
A good effort to clean your home's radiators can help you save some of your heating costs as their efficiency will improve and your space will heat up better.
So here are 6 efficient ways to clean your radiators!
1) Cloth and sponge
An effective way to clean the outside of radiators is to use a cloth and sponge. First with a clean and soft cloth try to remove most of the dust. Then use a fresh sponge and go over the entire surface with it.
For the inside of the radiator things are a bit more complicated. To clean the inside of a radiator, it is sufficient to unfasten its lid. If your radiator does not have a cover, or is of the old type (slices), the process is easier, as you do not need to remove anything specific.
- Compressed air
The compressed air technique is a very easy process. You can get air spray and spray the inside of your radiator, in all its parts. The air will blow away the dust from the places where it accumulates and give it back its original shine.
- Vacuum cleaner
Another use of the vacuum cleaner that can be seen as a lifesaver is that of cleaning radiators. You can use the vacuum cleaner by placing the brush in its mouth. Touch the pole of your vacuum cleaner to the top and bottom of the radiator's inner fins. It may not clean the entire inside, but you will have managed to remove most of it. Of course, it will be especially useful if you have the special thin end of the vacuum cleaner, which can help in such circumstances.
- Radiator brush
A very good solution is the radiator cleaning brush. There are many types on the market that cover all radiator cleaning needs. Simple cleaning brush, rotating radiator cleaning brush etc. Its use is very simple and especially useful for radiators with lids. Simply remove the cap and push the cleaning brush towards the inside of the radiator.
- Ruler and cloth
A technique that can save you if your radiator is old style (slices) is to use a ruler. Take a ruler and wrap it in a plain cloth. Use the edge of the ruler to get into the little indentations the radiator slices make between each other and get rid of the dust in those places. For the rest of the radiator you can use the cloth and sponge technique, in the way we mentioned above.
- Steam cleaner
The last solution we have to recommend is the use of a steam cleaner. The steam cleaner is used for many jobs around the house and is an easy choice to clean. With the steam cleaner you can clean the inside of the radiator, easily, quickly and simply, without many changes or movements.
